In a week that saw snow one day, then taps aff weather the next, it’s been a bit of a weird one. But, in the spirit of always looking for the positives of my week, here’s some highlights.
1) Discovering The Ninja Kitchen
I’m always on the lookout for new places to eat and discovered The Ninja Kitchen on Friday. It’s part of the Bourbon bar on Frederick Street, so it’s well hidden. But, if you’re ever in the area and fancy some delicious Pan-Asian food, head their way. I had a chicken rice bowl (without Sriracha sauce because I can’t handle anything remotely hot) and it was so good. I’d never been to the Bourbon bar either, so fancy going back for drinks sometime too.
2) A trip to the hairdresser
One of my favourite things to do, I headed back to the hairdresser on Saturday to get my roots done… and left with blue dip dye! It was a spur of the moment decision, but I’m so in love with the colour, I’m glad I made it. I’ve had pink and purple in my hair before, but never blue. I’m hoping it doesn’t fade too fast! Life is too short to have boring hair.
3) The return of Drag Race
I can’t tell you how excited I’ve been for season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race! It finally premiered on Friday in America, then Netflix UK announced they’d be adding it the very next day, so I can enjoy the new season in glorious HD. The first episode was all about Lady Gaga, with the girls serving their best Mother Monster looks on the runway. I haven’t picked a favourite queen yet, but give it time!
4) Family birthday party
My brother organised a surprise birthday party for his wife, a.k.a my sister-in-law, on Saturday. I was originally going to be designated driver, but the sunshine soon changed my mind! I stocked up on cider and got a taxi over to their house with my parents. It was a great night that ended in a very competitive, tipsy game of Giant Jenga. I managed to avoid a hangover too, which was a bonus!
5) Mother’s Day walk
I spent today with my Mum and went on a lovely walk with the poodles. The sun has been shining all day and it felt like the middle of (Scottish) summer when we were out, so it was bliss. There were so many dogs and horses where we went, so I was in my element! We grabbed a McFlurry on the way home, which topped off a pretty nice afternoon.
